Things To Do On IsabelaLos Tuneles - Take a 45 minute boat ride from the port to an untouched area of Isabela. Los Tuneles is named for the "tunnels" that now exist in the shallow water of the Pacific Ocean. These tunnels, formed thousands of years ago by the Sierra Negra Volcano, are now home to some of the richest animal life in the world. At Los Tuneles you can find penguins, blue footed boobies, pelicans, giant sea turtles, white tip reef sharks, and even the occasional sea lion. Grab your snorkel and head into the water for an out of this world experience.
Sierra Negra Volcano - Take a 20 minute taxi ride up to "the highlands", where you will then begin your trek to the crater of the Sierra Negra Volcano. The Sierra Negra Volcano is the second largest crater in the world and offers breathtaking panoramas of the entire island. Nature Trails - Isabela has miles upon miles of trails for tourists to walk or bike. Start by walking down the gorgeous beach, and then venture into the marsh land, where the pristine vegetation allows for glimpses of flamingos, alongside other animals. Relax on the Beach - The only town on Isabela is located right on the beach, where glowing blue water meets the sand. Once can even find iguanas crawling up the cluster of lava rocks that interupts the seemingly endless sand beach. Surf - The beach that separates the town from the Pacific is known for its great surfing waves. Whether a beginner or an expert, you can rent a board and give the waves your best shot. Go Horseback Riding - Horseback riding is a relaxing way to enjoy all of the sights that Isabela has to offer. You can even rely on the horses to get you near the top of the Sierra Negra Volcano.
